There are many types of land surveys which we can conduct, some of which include property or perimeter surveys, improvement location or zoning location surveys, topographic surveys or even boundary stakeout surveys.

In addition, we also prepare elevation certificates for homeowners in floodplains and septic system replacement plans for those people who need them. Regardless of the service, all of our work is performed in strict compliance with regulations as defined in the Standards for Surveys and Maps in the State of Connecticut as adopted by the Connecticut Association of Land Surveyors, Inc. Additionally our mapping will comply with your local land use requirements.

Do I have to get a survey to install a fence?
In most towns and cities it is not required but you should check with your local planning and/or zoning official to be sure.
The fact of the matter is you will be spending a significant amount of money to have a fence installed.
Should a mistake be made, that mistake could cost you significantly more than the cost of a survey.
You are always better safe than sorry!
I thought you were surveying my property why are you over at my neighbors down the street?
Most of this information relates directly to those homeowners who are looking to install a fence but it also is pertinent for those that might just want to know where their property lines/corners are or who owns and is responsible for a big tree or row of bushes.
Since fences are a relatively permanent structure you will want to confirm the location of your property lines and/or property corners prior to investing the time and money to have the fence installed.
As land surveyors we do this through researching the local land records, office calculations, and field surveying.
As a homeowner it is your right to improve your home and property.
However, there are numerous zoning, boundary, and even deed issues that you need to be aware of before you set out to undertake an exterior home improvement project such as adding a pool or an addition onto your home.
We have the skill and expertise to help homeowners with all aspects of the project to ensure it is not only feasible but complies with local, state, and federal requirements.
Whether your project involves an addition or a pool the process is quite similar.
If you are considering building a new house, an addition, a pool, undertaking certain landscaping projects or possibly looking to reduce or remove your existing flood insurance, there are new state and federal regulations you need to be aware of.
New federal legislation has changed how floodplain areas are defined as well as the permit requirements for building within these regulated areas.
If your property is determined to be in a floodplain, you need to obtain a special letter of assessment from the U.S. Government that qualifies you to be purchase government backed flood insurance.
